"Red Carpet Runway"
2015 Fundraiser Fashion Show
After months of preparation, the 2015 'Red Carpet Runway' Fundraiser Fashion Show was a huge success! Each year Dress for Success provides hundreds of women with professional attire. All of our clothing comes from generous public donations. Occasionally, we recieve donations that are not approprate for work. However we believe every article of clothing has a purpose. In 2012, we hosted our first Recycled Fashion Show and challenged local designers to create runway worthy designs from our collection of unworkable clothes. In a 'Project Runway' Style design competition, designers were also challenged to style our models using the gently used professional wear straight from our boutique, and they were judeged by our guest panel of judges on 1) the designs they were able to create from our box of Recycled garments we gave them, and 2) their original looks they produce on their spare time or for their clothing buisnesses. The winners recieved various prizes where first place recieved over $500 worth of gifts. Take a gander at the video and the photos below to see how the night turned out. We implore you to check us out next year as we plan on another spectacular night of fashion for RVA.

Our last portion of the show was our featured, 'Red Carpet Runway' section. Designers were challenged to recycle preselected garments in red carpet or runway ready looks! We're talking high fashion! Designers could submit up to 3 looks but at least one of the designs must include red Dress for Success' signature color.

Our intermission, organized by Boutique Manager, Jonathan Copeland, had heads rolling as the models walked the runway in our inventory of chic shoes which were available for purchase after the show. The intermission was purpose driven in that our models walked down the runway holding up affirmations to inspire women to feel feel confident no matter where she is walking, whether it's on the runway or the office.

Our first section of Red Carpet Runway was 'Dress for Success' where our designers were challenged to style our models using the gently used professional wear from the Dress for Success Central Virginia Boutique. Then our special guest, Tori Brandon, shared her testimonial of how our affiliate helped her to get her job back after a long string of setbacks. She was very brave, and she even took a walk down the runway in her beige suit, courtesy of our boutique.

Behind those black curtains, hair and make up was underway before the show started. Models got a feel for the runway as they practiced their walk for a flawless performance.
